Student Drawings | Student Sculpture
I love teaching. I love what the students bring to the table; their backgrounds and stories. I love helping create the community between them as they learn methods and materials and learn to depend on each other for critique and ideas.
Currently I teach part-time at the University of Maryland College Park. My classes include 3-D design, metal casting, drawing II, and independent study. Previously I taught at Millsaps College where besides drawing and sculpture, I taught one section of Modern Art History and a design and technology course that was profiled in the Chronicle of Higher Education.
During the summers of 1997-2002, I taught at Interlochen Center for the Arts and instituted a steel welding and casting component for the junior high and high school classes, plus helped develop a master's portfolio class for advanced returning students.
I also enjoy teaching established artists who are interested in exploring casting in their work at Chester River Casting.
